Updates to Historic Fill Material and Diffuse Anthropogenic Pollutants Technical Guidance

On April 30, 2013 New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) officially released an update to the previously issued “Historic Fill Material and Diffuse Anthropogenic Pollutants Technical Guidance.” This document has now been renamed “Historic Fill Technical Guidance” and the section on Diffuse Anthropogenic Pollutants (DAP) has been removed. According to NDJEP, the technical guidance for DAP will now be addressed in the “Offsite Source Investigation/Documentation Technical Guidance,” which is still being developed by the NJDEP’s Site Remediation Program Stakeholder Committee. Proposed new changes to the ASTM E1527

The ASTM E1527 – Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Practice was last revised in 2005. Currently the standard is under review for additional changes. The Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) scope of work is not anticipated to change significantly and many of the changes will provide clarification to some of the language. Harrison Station Redevelopment and Remediation Progress Update

Heller Urban Renewal, the designated redeveloper, began redevelopment of Harrison StationSM in 2012. Harrison StationSM will ultimately be a transit village that will include residential and retail components. Harrison StationSM will be located adjacent to the Harrison PATH station and only a short walk from the new Red Bulls Stadium. The new transit village will also be surrounded by transportation corridors including Route 280. The site is an excellent example of brownfields redevelopment....more
