The former General Motors Assembly Plant in Linden, New Jersey opened its doors in 1937. From 1937 to 2005, this facility-built Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac and Oldsmobile vehicles before finally closing in April 2005. JM Sorge Inc. has been assisting with the remediation of the Site, since 2009. Approximately half the site has been redeveloped with three (3) large industrial warehouses. Construction of the final retail portion of the site, known as Legacy Square, began yesterday, May 31, 2018 with a Groundbreaking Ceremony attended by a number of key players involved in the project, including the Mayor of Linden, city councilmen, planning board members, and the developers. JM Sorge personnel Joseph Sorge, Principal and Thomas Burke, Project Manager were also present to celebrate with the City of Linden in this monumental achievement. The Legacy Square will be home to a new Super Wal-Mart, as well as several other stores and restaurants, which will provide jobs and tax revenue to the City of Linden.
