NJDEP LAND USE SUBMISSIONS – MOVING TO THE MODERN ERA

Some exciting news regarding New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s (NJDEP’s) Division of Land Resource Protection: effective October 5, 2021, all Land Use applications must be submitted through the NJDEP Online service portal. This requirement includes Coastal General Permits and CAFRA, Coastal Wetlands, Waterfront Development, Meadowlands District Water Quality Certificates, Flood Hazard Permits, Freshwater Wetlands Permits, and Transition Area Waivers.

JM Sorge, Inc (JMS) sees this change as good news, as it should streamline and speed up the review process for permits, which often must be approved prior to the initiation of environmental field investigations or development. Additionally, electronic submissions will eliminate excess paper and reduce our carbon footprint.

More information related to the electronic submission requirement can be found at the following link: https://www.nj.gov/dep/landuse/eservices/lur_auth_permits.html

As always, JMS is here to help navigate the NJDEP Land Use permit process to keep your environmental case in compliance. We have been voluntarily using the online portal for submissions and attending training on changes to the portal.
