On September 23, 2015, JMS attended a training seminar held by NJDEP at the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA) building in Trenton. The training focused on the process of completing Environmental Assessments and Environmental Review Records for HUD’s Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Relief (CDBG-DR) program. This program is used by developers to obtain funding for various beneficial projects throughout the state. Due to a recent audit of HMFA by HUD, the program is now being overseen by NJDEP, who are acting as Program Manager. Environmental Assessments will now be reviewed by HMFA and NJDEP before funds can be requested and disbursed. This extra step is intended to eliminate errors and prevent problems in future audits. JMS has completed numerous Environmental Assessments for developers over the years, and continues to stay apprised of the most current regulations in order to help streamline the process and achieve project goals.
