In August 2013 New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) released an updated “Presumptive and Alternative Remedy Technical Guidance Document.”

This document provides guidance on presumptive remedies, which do not need NJDEP pre-approval, and are required for all new construction schools, residences and childcare centers. The document also provides guidance on alternative remedies, which do require NJDEP pre-approval. The updated guidance document includes several changes from the previous versions, including removal of previous vapor intrusion sections, and additional clarification on applicability and administrative procedures.
